What gear to start in at gate?

I have recently purchased a 2003 KX250 and I was wondering what gear to start in at the gate, 2nd or 1st? I have hurd different stories. Any suggestions and advise is much appreciated.

Everything from 60's to 450's I have started in 2nd with good starts, after the start it's all downhill for me Silly

2nd gear is best, but if you have the skills a 3rd gear start will save you a shift to the first turn and is worth a bike length. That is what I use on my 250 and 450f's.

2nd for sure, 1st gear would be way too short and you would lose time shifting to second almost immediately.
