Looking at the serial number I would guess it's an 08. Just looking at the pattern in what you have of the frame number, that 8 before the A would be my guess as the year digit. If you do get the whole number it's the 10th digit in which indicates the year if you weren't aware. He probably thinks it an 07 because he saw an 07 build date on it somewhere maybe.

Would be nice! I'm also thinking it could be an 05 because of the 5! Difficult one...would just be nice to know for certain what year she is...i'll get there.

Check the kickstarter and front fork guard style. These could be swapped out tho. I'm not sure if the VIN system works the same in GB as NA.

The 10th digit from the left is a 5. It is a 2005.

10th from left is a 0. I'm pretty sure it works differently here in the UK with the Suzukis as people on UK forums say to check directly with Suzuki as the frame number needs decoding to be able to tell the year.

I will check the kickstart and front fork guard style. Any differences in particular to look for??

K5 model the kickstarter changed looks like a 4 stroke one. K6 and older had fork guard guides. The 07+ had rmz fork guards they have no guides and bend away at top. Only other thing I can think of is the reed spacer. K6 and on had a reed spacer to improve low end.

VIN's are different in Europe found and old TT thread. The VIN they gave is JS1RJ18A000501974. His bike appeared to be an 04 and the last digit is a 4. I would definitely give Suzuki a call and see if they can track down the correct year for your bike.

There are no fork guard guides, kickstart is the newer style, seat cover looks to be the original for a 2007. On mine I can't make out the last 4 digits on the VIN number after JS1RJ18A00050, the rest is the same as the example that you gave.

The fork guards have the rail for the guides but there are no guides and they fit perfectly as they are. They are aftermarket though. I'm confident it's at least an 05 because of the kickstart (and the condition of the bike if nothing else), but I was sold an 07.

This is the condition of the VIN number. I've rubbed over it with rubbing alcohol which has cleared it up slightly but it looks like the remaining digits may have been blasted when the frame was powder coated

Got some other numbers:
37F6 E-I (right above oil filler cap on cylinder),
On one side of the head SZB-187-1 and on the other side 37F4,
37F4 on carb intake boot,
37FB UFE on carb

He had posted one earlier it had 07 OEM graphics. Based on the kickstarter the bike is a K5+. There wasn't much changed from K5 to K6 that I am aware of being easy to check. The K6+ RM250 had a reed intake spacer P#: 13156-37F00 which the earlier models did not.

Found em thumbnails in first post.
