I have an '02 CR250 that apparently doesn't have a tight seal where the boot meets the airbox. I'm going to seal the gap with silicone, but what are the symptoms of dirt already having gotten in there?

11/3/2009 8:32 AM You can waste the top end if not sealed properly. Low compression, low power are 2 of the telltale signs. rings, pistons, cylinders, reeds, and even power valves could have to be replaced.

11/3/2009 8:48 AM Look for dirt in the bell of the carb. If its sucked some the crank will go.

11/3/2009 1:19 PM I had that bike and used the PC racing boot seal kit. Dont know if they still make it but it was a new metal piece with hardware. You're right that seal is terrible.

Thanks, that's how I found out about the problem. I can't figure out how to order on their site - guess I'll have to call.
(Big Lenny recommended it for Newmann's garage sale purchase) |
