... dirt gets sucked into my air intake? What happens?

I have an '02 CR250 that apparently doesn't have a tight seal where the boot meets the airbox. I'm going to seal the gap with silicone, but what are the symptoms of dirt already having gotten in there?

You can waste the top end if not sealed properly. Low compression, low power are 2 of the telltale signs. rings, pistons, cylinders, reeds, and even power valves could have to be replaced.

Look for dirt in the bell of the carb. If its sucked some the crank will go.

I had that bike and used the PC racing boot seal kit. Dont know if they still make it but it was a new metal piece with hardware. You're right that seal is terrible.

Thanks, that's how I found out about the problem. I can't figure out how to order on their site - guess I'll have to call.

(Big Lenny recommended it for Newmann's garage sale purchase)

MX Bonz still makes a kit for your bike.
