Can you post up who and where and for what price? Next time my bike is apart I'd like to do it as well.

Hey fab, you might want to cryogenic treat those parts also

whats the benefit of doing that? just curious

If you aren't processing the parts in a chemical bath, you're doing it wrong...

fill us in Slipdog. My local guy I mentioned does high dollar old car restorations, etc and has a few different media tumblers among a shop full of various other cool do-dads including powder coat ovens, one I'm pretty sure large enough to do a car frame. He seemed interested in trying to polish this trans for me but if there is a more in depth process that needs to be done then I need to know.

Real ISF is a patented process and it's close to 20k to get set up with the proper equipment and supplies to do true micro-polishing. There a lot of people with tumblers offering to polish, but if it's not an REM isotopic super finishing system, it is only doing surface polishing. It may look pretty, but it can't polish all the microscopic peaks and ridges to reduce friction and heat.

Thanks for the link. I figured that just tumbling them seemed too easy. For transmissions, does it usually start with a cryo process?

The cryo is a different process for hardening and metal strength. The ISF reduces the friction of two peices of metal that rub together. Most people think of it as for transmissions only, but I do pistons, pins, rods, oil pumps and even camshafts. Anything that rubs against another part can benefit from reduced micro ridges.

@Pete... You're not an idiot, I originally thought everything was tumbled with heavy steel shot to pound the ridges flat.
The guy that I've been using for my finishing since '04 explained to me it was done through a chemical breakdown process and my research found REM. After contacting them about the equipment costs, I decided to stick with Dennis at Supertech.

I've used this process for years now, really makes a difference in reducing heat, better shifting, lighter clutch pull, etc.
I have just about everything that moves finished. I highly recommend it.

I send my stuff to Evans Performance: http://www.evansperformance.com/rem.html
They do a good job for a decent price with a fast turn around.

Here's some pictures of the work:

I would pay good money just to have Dogger sit on my bike!

How about hybrid ceramic bearings to complete the package?

I am having a transmission done by 'fast by gast' in NY right now. Will post results when I get it back; $450 for reverse cutting and polishing.

I've heard the best things about WPC treatment in California. The guy quoted me roughly $400 for my transmission (RM 125). I just submitted a query through the website and he responded within 24 hours with a quote, twice. I didn't go through with it, but maybe in the future.

I used EBR Performance in Texas it was 299$ for the transmission and I sent every piece, not just the gears and shafts. They were easy to work with and turn around was fairly quick. When I do my other bikes I will send it to them also.
