The cr 125 in the picture was one I owned before selling it to my friend, Tim, and fellow racer who showed up to my house at 9:00 pm one evening to purchase the bike. He fired it up and rode it up and down the street to test ride it ringing it out the whole time. I thought my neighbors we going to be upset with me! After that, he would come and see me at my work, where we would sit and bench race about the coming weekends supercross. Tim rebuilt it and raced it for about a year before unexpectedly passing away. I thought the bike was gone till my family and I went to his memorial race where his bikes were being sold. I bought it just to bring it home and let it sit until my son want to ride it. Now, he wants to race it so, this bike has turned into a rebuild project for us both.

I was tearing into the motor, took this pic, and sent it to my friend Rmartin517 here on vital. He sent me a message back, 'lucky dog it's got a 139 kit!' No wonder why my kid likes it!

Pick up a Showa rear shock off a 2006 crf250

Going to have it rebuilt adding pro circuit hard anodized rear shock kit and the right spring for the kids weight

I think the piston looks ok and cylinder has a small groove that you can barely feel when you run your fingernail over it. I think I can get away running a flex hone through it.

I should be done with the rebuilt of the motor tomorrow just need to figure out what piston ring gap should be.

Are those blue fasteners titanium or aluminum? Where did you buy them?

I checked put IRP's site. Are the cylinder & base nuts aluminum? I used alum bolts on my cr250 clutch cover and they were constantly coming loose & developing oil leaks. I think Ti or steel would be a better choice?

Thanks for the info, I plan on checking them a lot during the first couple rides and if they keep coming loose, I will just put the steel ones back in.

You can blue lock tite them and torque them all to spec. It may help.

I tried calling Eric Gorr to see if Tim had it done to run pump gas or race gas, but they changed over their computer system and couldn't find it to tell me.

The only difference is in how Eric cuts the head. You could CC the head and figure it out, or buy one on eBay and have it modded to whichever fuel you want. Or just run race fuel/100ll and be happy.

Bike's coming together nicely.

Hes at Millennium Technologies now, but with how crappy our gas is any more I'd run C12 60/40 or VP110 straight. Two strokes love themselves some leaded race gas.

Thanks sleeve1, I would like to try ice fishing someday but, we don't get cold long enough for the lakes to freeze over here.
