A friend gave me an extra FMF SST pipe that came with his 05 YZ250, I just got an 03 and was going to use it. I guess I've never kept a bike long enough to see this but this thing has major carbon buildup. It weighs at least a pound more than it should. Is there any way to clean it? I found a page saying heat it and scrape it off but I would guess it's not just at the head but has at least some all the way through. I don't want to spend all day to save a $200 pipe, do I toss it or does anyone have a secret.

I saw a couple videos on YouTube where they used a torch and just burned off the carbon on the inside. I think it will smolder and you can feed compressed air to periodically blow it out.

I suggest throwing it in the garbage and getting a "Fatty"

I used easyoff oven cleaner, as recommended by exfactoryWrench and it worked pretty darn good.

emptied the whole spray can inside and let it sit for 2 days, hosed it out.

I started heating it it a torch to burn it out but the platinum coating was discoloring so I quit.
