The Shop
(1) FasstCo Flexxbars on 2 bikes - they really are like a fork revalve!
(2) Neken SFS clamps on 1 bike - awesome add, can't notice they are there - until you take them off …
(3) XC Gear "MAKO 360" on 1 bike - new add for me, preliminary results are good (only 2.5 hours on them, can feel them move/clunk when I pull on the bars to lift the front wheel)
(4) All bikes have a Scotts or GPR V1 steering damper (3 Scotts, 1 GPR - I think GPR is my favorite, especially on 2-strokes). I've been running dampers since 1998. Will never go back - I consider them a safety item at this point. They allow you to relax sooo much more than without. Riding without a damper now feels like riding without a helmet: scary.
(5) All bikes have full diamond Renthal grips in either medium or hard compound. I prefer hard compound because I seem to squeeze less tightly since I get a good grip given its hardness/tackiness without extra pressure - and they hold up far better in crashes.
SUMMARY:
Guess what? #5 is one of the biggest improvements! Minimizing the diameter of the bar you're holding onto is HUGELY HELPFUL for arm pump. Ever tried doing pull-ups on a large diameter pipe versus something more like a 7/8" handlebar sized pipe? HUGE DIFFERENCE. Start there!
As for the other setups, they are all excellent in different ways, with #2 being least noticeable and #3 is probably growing on me and may become the best for me overall (holds up good in crashes, too - which I didn't expect).
Sorry for the novel ...
