Okay, I am having a bitch of a time getting this thing perfect. I could use suggestions.

Bike: 2006 RM250 two-stroke
VForce III reed block
FMF Factory Fatty Pipe
FMF PowerCore2 (not shorty) silencer

Fuel: VP T2 (which is VP110 mixed 40:1)

Current Jetting:
Main: 170
Pilot: 45
Air Screw: 2 1/2 out
Needle: NECJ clip 2 down

Geography:
Central Texas - Hot (>95) and a little humid (35%???)
Elevation - 1000 ft

Issue: Bike runs very strong on the mid-range and top-end. Down low there is a slight hesitation that I cant seem to get rid of. Bike is difficult to start cold. If it doesn't start on the first or second kick with choke on, it requires turning choke off and holding throttle open. Then it fires right up. When riding back from the track to the pits (just off idle speed), then turning the bike off, you can smell the fuel. My guess is that I am still quite rich on the pilot circuit, but I haven't really heard of anyone running a 42 pilot on these.

Any thoughts?

lean the choke off. counter clockwise is lean, clockwise is richer. the choke enrichment knob is adjustable on these carburettors and controls the 1/8 of the fuel curve

I have a 06 yz 250 that was previously owned by Josh Demuth and it's the snappiest, cleanest running 2 stroke I've ever had. Power is great from idle - top end.... not sure of the jetting but I could find out.. I'm located just north of Dallas so probably pretty close to what you would need.

bike starts easily all the time and runs so crisp it's crazy...

Use the search. Digger has some excellent specs for RM carbs.
