The bike is completely disassembled, cleaned and inspected. Anything that is damaged or worn gets replaced or rebuilt along with the parts that are scheduled to be replaced. The frame and swingarm is inspected and remains in service until their expected lifespan is up, unless damaged. Wheels are swapped with a fresh set. The old ones will be disassembled and new spokes and rim will be laced up to the existing hub.
The engine is removed and placed in a box to be shipped to the race shop for a rebuild. A fresh engine is installed with a mixture of new and used parts. I remember a video of the Kawasaki team when RV was still racing. They had 3 engines in rotation. One in the practice bike, one in the race bike, and one spare in the truck.
The bike is built back up with new parts or used parts still within service limit. Fresh graphics are applied. New grips, chain, brake pads, cables nearly every week. Exhaust repacked or replaced, brakes simply flushed with fresh fluid or rebuilt. Nothing is left untouched.
