My father and I bought matching 2014 crf250's last year and he doesn't like the feel of a 4 stroke (he's not selling his Honda for a yz or ktm...etc, Already been there) he loves my 02 cr125 and wants to do a cr125af with his beloved 14. I have searched the inter webs for a "kit" but I can't find one for 14 and newer crf250. I know service Honda sells a complete bike for $13,499.99!! I'm waiting on a reply from them. Besides service Honda, does anyone know who makes a kit for the newer Hondas?

Why the hell would you put a 125 motor into anything.... get a 250 smoker maybe.... You'll need to DIY this or have a shop do it.

Why not? It's their choice.

Jmcd, I say go for it if you want a project. You may be interested in nino's bike -http://www.vitalmx.com/community/luckynino,45103/setup,45297

He does have a long thread about his build - http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/993917-my-new-cr-125-afs-aluminium-fra…

Cost vs reward. Just buy an 02-07 and put good suspension on it. Done.

For some lucky people cost doesn't matter. I wish I was one of those. Lol

The 05-07 CR125 had pretty good suspension already, just a slow motor. I agree, he should find a 00-01 CR250 motor for a conversion, that would make a pretty sweet AF project. He could tune it for
whatever he wanted. CP500 May have the parts for this type of build.

Thanks guys, I knew this would be a touchy subject. The fact is, we don't race, we build and have fun. This is not a sport it's a hobby. He was impressed on how much fun my cr125 is and we had the idea to swap it. Selling the engine with 4 hours on it will offset a lot of the cost.

I personally think the newest gen Hondas are some of the best looking bikes. I have seen ninos build and I think it's amazing. Even got ahold of the guy who built the frame and got a quote.

I don't think it will actually happen but I'm just gathering information right now.

There's a guy named Paul Stoffers that is very well respected for his conversions and kits. You can look him up on one of the AF conversion forums. He may be able to help your dad.

02 CR125 with 2015 TX Race plastic kit & '97 CR144 top end. Handles great looks and feels like a newer bike and doesn't give up any power to the newer bikes. Under $2k..............just another idea.......

^ honestly thought about this for my 02. Are you running stock suspension?
Also how is the fit and finish of that kit? Can I use OEM plastic or just TX plastic?

Fit a finish is maybe an 8/10. I modded a few things and they have probably updated the kit since I bought it. We have been running it for over 6 months with no issues & my kid rides pretty hard. You can use any CRF plastics just have to mod them a bit. Running stock revalved suspension at this point. No complaints so far. Biggest things were '96 cylinder, 38mm PWK carb and '03 KX125 pipe. This bike had no issues keeping up with any other 125 at the 125 Dream Race at Washougal this year. It sounded better than most also. Everyone that has rode it has been pleasantly surprised by it...............
