Yeah, I mounted one of these up on my 450 but have not used it yet. Giving it a hard look though it looked suspect enough that I am going to swap out the quick release pin for a bolt. It looks like it would not be strong enough to hold the guard on under riding conditions.

I've had that same skid plate on my bike since day one and the only thing I changed was that the quick change thing because I could see that thing getting ripped off in the event of a hard case. I used the spring washer/nut thing that comes on an RM250 to hold the lower pipe mount on and a regular 8mm bolt. It worked perfect and I haven't had a problem with it.

That seems to be the standard mod for those. Everyone I ride with who didn't do that, had theirs fall off.

I had one on my 250 SX last year, and i ripped it off after overjumping a big table into sticky spanish clay. But otherwise they hold up pretty well. For peace of mind i usually drill a small hole and use a zip ty to secure the quick release.

Here's a photo of where the quick release pulled through.

Mine pulled through and I lost it in CO . somewhere. On a friends bike I replace his with a bolt and washer and he still has his.
