It's true. My buddy bought some of their plastic and it's more red than orange and he found it that was painted that color.

What do they paint it with? Enamel doesnt flex enough and typical plastic paint isnt that glossy.

Its called a flex agent. You add a flex agent to a paint in order to paint plastic and not have it crack....IE: car bumpers.. Ever seen a car with an aftermarket paint job that has the paint cracked on the bumpers?...they didnt add enough or any flex agent.

I still dont buy it. Besides car bumpers arent flexing anywhere near what bike plastic is.

Why would they go through all the trouble and potential issues with paintind plastic when they could just use a different color when molding the plastics?

I just shot my buddy a text who friends with Troy Lee about it and he said that it's absolutely 100% true that they were painting their plastic and that it was completely trashed after 1 race and was redone each wk.

Same could be said about the air box wash covers for the 2015.5-16 KTM SXFs. No companies made them so shane mcelrath made them himself and the rest of the TLD guys used those all of last season.

Doubt all you want, Troy Lee painted their plastics when they first came out.

Same way he painted Peak CR125 tanks and later the chrome plastics for the Splitfire KXs for Mitch...

I am not buying it either.

TLD KTM had the full Orange 2015.5/2016 plastic before the bikes even made it to the public. Orange rear fender, side panels, etc.

That is all painted?

Plus most of this plastic is now available for sale, minus only the radiator covers it-is-hoffi is asking about, plus the orange plastic frame guards. I think its fairly safe to assume being a factory team TLD KTM just got the real plastic first.

Occasionally when people talk around here, some of them know what they're talking about regardless of how crazy it may sound.

Not the first time someone who knows has been chastised for speaking the truth since it sounds crazy...and has turned out to be true.

"in this thread" being your key words. Things have quickly degraded around here when someone throws something out there that others don't think is possible. It doesn't matter if they know or don't know.
