I have a 2009 XC 250 and am rebuilding the engine. I am considering changing 4th and 5th gear to make them a little taller for transfers and road sections. Are there any alternatives other than the XC-W transmission gears? Are the gears in any of the 4 strokes compatible? The shaft part numbers are different between the 2 strokes and 4 strokes.

Thanks for any help

use partzilla, punch in the part number of a gear you know fits and it will show you all the others matching the same number. great way to cross reference.

Now there's some funny shit. Someone putting out a call to 2 stroke experts and only 1 response in a full day.

"punch in the part number of a gear you know fits and it will show you all the others matching the same number"
But wouldn't that give him the same gear and he wants a different gear?

I appreciate that adam8781 tried to help. Unfortunately partzilla doesn't deal with KTM OEM parts.
Toolmaker, I do understand what you are saying though

other than cross referencing the part number from the bike you know has the gears you need, to other ktm bikes in question i have no idea!

and i do transmission work for customers often, its a very specialized question not easily answered.
