Im trying to blue a 2t exhaust. I remeber a video floating around where someone poured acid on the pipe and it blued, looking really cool. Does anyone know the process behind that and what kind of acid?

Its on a ktm 50 so he cant really goose it. The video i seen, it pretty much turned the whole pipe bluish purple. It was pretty cool looking. All they did was pour some type of acid on it

I know this isn't what you're looking for but Ive done a couple pipes sorta like that, I use Muriatic Acid (found in pool supply) to clean raw pipes which takes off all the rust, then I used mothers to shine up the raw finish then take a torch to it and heat it up where you want the blue to come in, I takes a little practice to get the blue just right (plus the torch I use is cheap and junky so I don't get the best results).

That actually looks pretty good. Ill try that. Its the fmf pipe that came on an sxs. I believe it is unfinished and seems to rust everytime we ride.

Just heat the pipe using a mapp gas torch till you get the color you want.

That Mega bomb is titanium, you won't get that deep blue/purple look on stainless. But if your pipes Ti go for it.

Man, I don't know if I've ever seen forks that high in the triple clamps in all my life. I was gonna say torch that pipe, but now I think just leave it alone.

Or you can run the bike very lean so it gets overheated..... actually not that good idea!

Yeah. The bike is still a little big for him. He just made 6 last month.

I blued my pipe last week with the yellow map gas torch. The tip is a bit wide so it's not perfect, but I think it looks good. I suggest a high heat (2000 degrees) clear header paint to keep down on maintenance and rust.

I always wondered if anyone ever tried this with their Ti pipes to give it a really deep blue/gold.

Not going to work on your steel 2T exhaust. Just keep it clean, WD40 and WFO.

It worked good enough for me. I got the look i was going for. Thanks to all for the pics and responses. I just heated it with map gas to my desired color and dropped it in an oil bath to cool.

Heh, sorry man. Didn't look at the picture enough. The fish eye lens and my lack of attention made me think the bike was bigger.

I've got a 15' SXS 50 for my little guy and he wants the Red Bull factory look. Where did you get those graphics?
