Help with ashy forks

So my forks have some discoloration on the gold color. Looks kinda white and if wipe it with WD 40 it goes away for awhile. Anyway of making it go away without hurting the anodized finish?

You sure its not just faded? Anodizing does fade over time.

It's most likely corrosion on the upper tubes. They get nicked from rock roost which makes openings in the anodized outer layer. Then water can get in there and it corrodes and spreads under the anodizing. I've seen it get really bad and the outer anodized layer will just peel up in big flakes. Mostly happens in heavy corrosion areas like near the ocean with salt air.
