Are there any mods to remove engine braking from a 250/450 4 stroker?
I am considering getting a 4 stroke to go with my 250 2t, but I hate engine braking with a passion, as it just makes me a lazy rider.

Does something like a rekluse eliminate engine braking? Any other options worth trying short of just manually clutching it into braking zones and start of corners?

I believe you can set up the Rekluse to have minimal engine breaking. Maybe hit them up for details...

Rekluse is your best option. You can adjust the Core, or the Core EXP to the point that you will not have the engine braking that you are dealing with right now. The problem with the Rekluse is that it makes you a lazier rider because you will clutch less out of corners and not have to deal with stalling issues any more. So you have to pick your poison. I do know that most guys that go with a Rekluse don't go back to a standard clutch.

Have you ridden a 4 stroke lately? The engine braking on most bikes is far from what is use to be. I hardly notice the engine braking on my '14 kx250f. I do however notice it more on my old mans 15.5 fe sxf250.

Turning up the idle helps.

Okay thanks for the replies. Will look into the slipper clutch if I do go ahead and buy a 4 stoke as well.

Seems Hinson is the main option? Any other brands to keep an eye out for?

yes is will, but it will also take time to get used to since it unload your rear suspension and can make the bike work and feel different. Those suckers aren't cheap so you may want to consider more cost effective options first, like mapping, pipe, gearing, etc.

I have the Rekluse Core EXP 3.0 on my 2014 KX450 and it drastically reduced engine braking. I have 3 bikes that I alternate riding, 2 of which are 2 strokes. I found going from the KX to the 2Ts very easy. Other 4-strokes I've ridden annoyed the hell out of me with all of the engine braking.
