So I bought a '03 CR 125 to play with, it has excel wheels that USED to be RED but now are PINK any idea how I can get rid of the color?
Better to remain silent and thought a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt. |

11/18/2009 5:12 PM Yeah, its easy, use EASY-OFF, oven cleaner, not the wimpy stuff, the strong original or extra-dirty type. Spray it on, wait for a while, then wipe off, that easy. But, might make the aluminum not so shiny, then use mothers aluminum polish or what-not.

11/19/2009 12:06 AM If you use oven cleaner, don't get it on the spokes. It will take the finish off them, leaving you with black looking spokes.

Anodizing soaks (bleeds) into the surface or pores of the Alum. Warmed Muriatic acid will remove some of it. Take off silver rims are dirt cheap. |

11/19/2009 10:40 AM The safest way is just to take it to an anodizer for stripping, then you can have them re-anodized clear if you want just 'silver'
You'll have to disassemble though, as you can't have any steel present when going thru the process. |

11/19/2009 12:31 PM I second the Heavy Duty Easy Off oven cleaner suggestion. It's nasty stuff, but it will take off anodize. The aluminum will look look like a blackish mess afterward so polishing or painting will be necessary. |
