What purpose do the reD and yellow stripes serve on a new tire. Just FMI, also if someone could coenter on the difference between the MX51 that comes on a new bike and the MX51 you buy aftermarket that would be appreciated. I looked and haven't seen a tire thread in a long time. Any inof on "spec" tires is also appreciated.

It's for production purposes I believe. The painted stripes signify when the tire was produced.

As far as the MX-51's that come stock on most bikes now and the MX-51's you can buy from Dunlop, they are the same.

The stripes on the tires designate the size and model of the tire
The tires that come on the production bikes are the same that you can buy from your local dealer
Spec tires are preproduction tires used by top pros
