Cracked Case RMZ 450 - ??

I cracked the case of my 07 RMZ 450 - the shop is estimating at least $4K with parts and labor. I am not a mechanic and wanting to see if there are other options - not paying for that for an 07. The shop said it cant be welded either.

Thoughts?

These are the times you learn to become a mechanic. What do you have to lose if the bike is trashed anyway?

Like the others mentioned...start with finding a used set of cases.
