That's why you've never heard of it, it doesn't affect your mechanics...

Sorry, I was just kidding and didn't think anyone would really take my original comment as a serious one.

AHHHH... RIIIGGGHHHT.

A good mechanic can work on anything.

With that said ... What I have found is car guys do not like working on something that is small and in tight places.

Can they? Yes. absolutely. They have the tools, they have the aptitude of general mechanical knowledge and diagnostics.

Should they? Depends. I know two very skilled and well paid auto mechanics that have no business working on motorcycles.

This is a two way street. There is too much knowledge that is relevant to just bikes or just cars for them to be universally interchangeable.

Talking about tight spaces, a dirt bike is a walk in the park.

Been wrenching on these things for about 4 years. No comparison. A "general" auto mechanic probably not a good idea. A specialty or performance auto shop will do you right, if they want to take on the project on the side or something.

Car mechanics have a tendency to go "tough guy" on fasteners. Dirt bikes usually require a lighter touch.

Yea toughs snap on covers are hard to pop off and impossible to get back on, 4 or5 fender screws cure that tough.

I don't know about car mechanics, but I've seen some ugly work done by electricians getting their hands on a motorcycle or atv. It turns into Marrette overload!
