Hello-
I am replacing the clutch on my 08' crf450 and noticed that with the bike in gear and all plates out of the basket that the inner hub rotates about 45 degrees back and forth before stopping. Is this normal? Thanks for any help...

Thanks Adam. The inner hub was notched which had me thinking this lash may be excessive as it may tend to facilitate a hammering effect. As I rock the shaft back and forth and switch gears with my hand the lash(play) decreases with every gear change up. Do you know, or does anybody know if there is a published tolerance anywhere? Thanks

the free spin before the gears take up slack, i have no idea ive never seen a spec for that, but the way the dogs work in the gears some have alot of spin before running out of slack and others have much less (way its designed)

i have several engines and transmissions on my bench from customers bikes, once you hold them and see how it works and where that play comes from it all makes sense. nothing to worry about.
