If you can find 91 with no ethanol it probably would be fine being that's the premium fuel we had back in 06 if I remember correctly and the engine was designed for pump fuel for the every day user. All you can do is try it and if if detonates or pings the you know it's no good. Personally I have an 03 and I just run 93 mixed 50/50 with vp 110. I have even gotten away with 75/25 pump to race fuel. You will get many answer and opinions on this matter. As to everyone's climates, fuels, altitudes, and jetting is all different. You are pretty much gonna have to be on a trial basis and see what works best for you. Hell I remember running 87 in my stock 03 kx 125 and it ran decent but that's back when gas one was gasoline.

The 05-07 CR250 is borderline with pump gas. When mine was stock, I ran straight 100LL. It's only $1.50 more than pump gas, and you won't have to worry about detonation issues.

Use this avgas finder for airports near you. https://www.airnav.com/fuel/local.html

Don't call them, as they will tell you no. Find an airport with self serve pumps and just show up with your can. I use small Municipal and privately owned airports that allow pedestrian access to the pumps. 100LL runs $5/gal around here.

As long as you have zero interest in the motor lasting for any good amount of time, yea, run pump gas.

It's the old saying, you'll get out, what you put in. Shit in? Shit out....

I know, horrible saying, but it's true.

I run the pump unleaded 100, and love it. I run U4.4 in my 4 stroke, and have no needs for it in the 2 stroke. I was thinking of trying the VP T4 or VPR like what Travis runs, but the pump 100 is GOOD stuff.

I know it will physically fit, but couldn't comment on the performance. I switched to the PWK asap as told to by the thousands of people that said don't run the stock carb!

No, it's a Keihin needle only.

Thanks! I just don't understand why they don't design these engines to run on higher end pump gas. I have access to 91 octane ethanol free and it seems to run in my CR fine with no obvious sounds of detonation...

For one, pump gas is absolute crap for performance. It's formulas are constantly being screwed with by econazi's, and keeping a fine running 2 stroke race bike in peak shape goes against what they want to see.

Next, in the constant hunt for for more performance, all mfg's have had to push the limits. That's why some bikes are okay on pump, while others really need some higher quality stuff to burn.

HOLY RESURECTION! So I got 93 octane regular pump gas (probably with ethanol) that I always run at the local station. They now have ethanol free 90 octane "rec fuel" available. I run everything from a 02 cr250 to a ktm 2016 85 all pretty much stock. Never had any issues and we usually cycle our gas pretty regularly. Wondering if I should stick with the same 93 O or switch to the 90 rec fuel? Is 90 octane in the safe range for 2 strokes? Im not usually too much of a fuel snob but just weighing my options.

P.S. The search function sucks on here! Google finds it right away, but on ours you have to get capitalization and even the punctuation perfect.

Personally I’d think you need more octane than the 90 REC is gonna get you. Especially in 2 strokes. 4 strokes you’re fine. 2 strokes like octane
