At least I think it's basic. I have a new cable, and cannot get free play out of it. I turned the nut adjuster clockwise all the way in (down), and the cable doesn't even have enough play to fit a penny in between the lever and perch. Can this be correct?

Does the cable also have an inline adjuster on it? A lot of them do.

Clutch plates might be shot. As the plates wear thinner you lose play. Eventually you get to the point that even with all the adjusters backed off all the way you can't get play at the lever.

I should clarify. I turned both the adjuster at the lever and the one down the line all the way tight. FGR01, maybe you're onto something. I'll check the plates. Also, maybe I got the wrong cable. Anyone know of a site to look up part #'s?

Compare the new cable to the old one. Should be pretty obvious if it's the same or not.

Look up part numbers in the OEM section on Motosport, RockyMountain, BTO, and other sites.
