Oops, I got you confused with another thread thinking you had an 05 125. My SSS for the 125 set up will slide right in your existing clamps, wheel and caliper setbup.

Mattman, i do know the 06 07 yz450f uses a longer steering stem then the 08 and 09 yz450f'

Nope, I did a frame swap on my 06 with an 08. Yamaha revised the frame on the 08 with something like 10mm shorter stem for added flex and then Grant Langston started winning Smile

Ok, I will just get a 06-09 450 triple clamp and put my stem in it if it doesn't work! Thanks for your help!

Your existing clamps will work fine, unless you want the newer style adjustable posts.

Alright, I have ordered a bunch of stuff so I'm just waiting now. I'm now looking at rear shocks and found a nice one off a 08 yz250f, I tried to cross the part # on bto's Oem parts section. the last four on the 05 2stoke are 00-00, and on the 08 4stroke it's F0-00. I need some reassurance that it will fit? Thanks guys

Your best bet is to rebuild your stock shock. The 4 stroke shocks will be valved differently and may not work as well as the stock one. I'm sure a local shop can change out the fluid for less than what you'll get a used one on ebay for. I would not put a 4 stroke shock on a 2 stroke even if physically it would fit.

Yea, I don't know why I'm trying to overthink this thing. My mind is racing trying to get ahead of myself when all I have is time on this build. Thanks for your input!

Well here is a little progress! I have some stuff ordered that's taking forever to get here like a fresh top end and radiators. My wife bought me the v force 3 reeds and I'm about to rebuild the carb, I bought clamps and some other stuff also! I just finished up the swingarm and linkage with new bearings and seals. Here are a couple pics to show some progress!

I have everything you need for 15-16 conversion for sale. Includes OEM 15-16 Airbox. I installed everything but never rode. Still brand new.
Do you still have this stuff and how much??

Looks like a nice project. Should be a fun bike once its back together. Going with stock graphics or something custom?

Also, that VPR FTW!!! Tried some last summer and loved it.

Thanks, it's coming around! I have some stuff coming this week so I hope it looks more like a bike by then. The stuff I'm waiting on has been shipped for 2 weeks but I guess these storms have slowed shipping down, I'm getting anxious! Haha. I think I'm going to try and buy a good used gas tank since the one I have with bike is crap. Anyone have one?

Put a fresh top end in and stuck the new pipe on it to see how she is looking, radiators should be here tomorrow!

I'm getting close to being done but wondered what tire size you recommend? Calls for the 110 of course but wondered if the 120 is better? I also scored a set of kite wheels with a60 rims that came off one of josh grants jgr bikes! Got the whole set with rotors for $500 and it came with a Pirelli front tire I was told you can't buy

I'd stick with a 110. 120's a pretty big/heavy for a 2t.

bike's looking good man. Not much better than a couple clean motorcycles in the garage.

Thanks for your reply! I went ahead and bought the 110, I was just wondering if people found the 120 to be a better option. I haven't had a 2 stroke in a long time but I'm having fun with it! And yea, I love walking in the garage with 2 bikes sitting in there. I might not be a great rider but I like my stuff to look good haha

Here are my forks that I did myself, I'm going to end up getting the sss forks so I wanted to see if I could get these to look good. I did the shock too and I think they turned out ok.

Should be able to fire it up today! I am going to change the perch and levers but this is pretty much it! I had a blast and I'm ready for another build!

Looks great, Cant believe you didn't do the 09 or newer F swing arm... Saves a few pounds and all reviews are stellar!

I talked to Doug Dubach Racing last week and he recommends the 2012 and up swing arm and linkage with the stock 250 shock.... Also the 2012 and up 22 degree F triple clamp works perfect with the yz stem pressed in to quicken up the turning for tight tracks and both the swing arms and clamps show up on ebay at times for next to nothing!

Google the swing arm swap... How did you do the fork tubes?

I will have to check it out, thanks! I want to do the sss forks for sure but I went ahead a sprung these for my weight to see if I might like them, it's been a while since I have had a 2 stroke so I want to make sure I can still ride one before I dump more money in it! I'm scared to say what I have spent on this thing even without getting the sss forks and updated swingarm! Haha

Yea, I bought this tank on eBay and it looked a lot better in the pic. I should have known better, I'm going to get one from Yamaha so I know I won't waste anymore money! For the graphics I'm going to get my buddy at armored to make a set for both the 450 and 250

Thanks! I used a really good automotive paint and put 2 coats of clear over them. I just wanted to see how they would turn out since I might get the sss forks. My wife called me a poser and I would agree since I didn't have them coated, but hey it's a project bike! Haha
