I believe Cometic can make you a spacer, I would contact them and ask.

That would be way more than $20

I only suggested it because I had a set of numbers water jetted for under 50 bucks. Worked out great in 1/8 aluminum.

I could do it, but 20 bucks would barely buy the piece of aluminum to do it. try finding a local machine shop that one of the guys does stuff on the side. water jet is a great idea if you had a DWG file of the gasket, some one is going to have to program or make this manually and for 20 bucks most shops won't even look at it. good luck

Yeah if you got that done for under $50 then someone should be able to do what I need done for $20. It doesn't have to be water jet either. It can be crude. If worst comes to worst I will just get a sheet and trace that pattern and cut and grind it myself.

Thanks for your post.

That is a good deal for such a small job especially if you didn't have a .dxf file. A lot of these guys don't even have any interest in that type of job so that is a good resource. The guy who does our laser cutting won't even deliver if it is under 1000lbs. Then again they have the pricing to be a pain. Did you anodize those numbers or paint? They look sweet.

I am going to go grab a piece of Aluminum tomorrow and start on it myself. It should be fun. And hey when people see the spacer I can talk about how trick it is and how I hand crafted it, Ha ha ha ha. I will be nice to do something like that with my own hands and just having that time out there with the bikes.

I need a Aluminum Spacer Fabricated. It will be in the shape of the Base Gasket of a 1976 Yamaha YZ125 and will be 1/4 inch thick.

Anyone out there do Aluminum Fabrication and can do this spacer for me for around $20 (I don't know the price on something like that)?

I would rather put the cash in another Motorcycle Riders pocket them my local Aluminum Shops cash drawer (they aren't nice guys).

I can do that for you if you can scan the base gasket, but we have a $50 minimum, pm me if interested

you'll likely spend several hours making one by hand. I'd spend the $50 and let ToolMaker do it. If you dont have a scanner I bet you could mail him a gasket for under a buck.

I have the bike around the corner at a neighbors house who is an Auto Mechanic. He said he could do it for $20 and that my thickness messurement was off.

I will PM you. I am thinking about going and grabbing the Gasket and sending it to you, just in case his work isn't up to par I will have 2 options.

This was a project from a few years ago, first national at Pala.
Waterjets are amazing if used what they are made for.

ToolMaker,

I didn't forget about you. Just a buddy of mine dropped me off a ROACH of a 1977 Suzuki RM80 and I lost my mind with it. It has been consuming my every thought and every free moment. Lol. Stupid Mini Cycle.

I was wondering what happened to you, figured your guy came through with an acceptable product and you were good.
No worries, when ever your ready we'll get it sorted out. I do have to warn you though, once you start getting stuff water jetted,
you just wont be satisfied with less.

I am happy to finally be at a point to follow through with this. Lifes hickups can really slow you down.

This will have to be a very precise fitting plate as you will have to not only fit the case and the cylinder, but you also must have an exact fit for the dow pins and these will have to be longer than stock as well.

Just wondering why you're having to do this? Is there not a piston available with the correct pin height?

I have ToolMaker working on it right now. I am very interested in what top of the line computer lazer cut fabrication looks like. He is doing the work for $50. Seems like a great guy and I like the dialect of which we have created. What are your rates like?

Thanks,

Mr. Mixon

I don't like going under $50 but for the first couple jobs I give price breaks. I would have had you ship the gasket to scan, and done the work for $35 plus shipping. I do to know where toolmaker is located but I'm up in PA so if you need anything quick or anything at all for that matter, I'm a bit closer.

Thank You very much for the response. Prices with both Toolmaker (he did a huge favor for me. I am greatful) and yourself are very fair.
