Can somebody tell me what the magic number is? Everything i read, 20mm 23.5mm stock! I cant seem to get a clear answer for what the best offset is for normal MX riding. Some of the clamp manuf. actually put out an article with 20mm is best then put out another with stock offset is best! Anyone have some exp. with this?

Well, depending on the bike model and make right? Different frames with different rakes, stem heights and oem offset..

Edit: saw you edited the topic, never mind Smile

Overall, what do you think of the handling of your YZ450F? What have you done to it so far to improve handling? What has worked?

To be honest with you, I haven't picked the bike up yet. I pick it up sept. 1st. I'm just trying to order some clamps for it before it gets here and don't want to order the wrong ones. I will be riding mostly straight MX with it.

Why not ride it first, then get with your suspension guy and work out a plan for the whole setup?

I bought a '14 model last night and rode it today... It certainly needs something to fix the handling.

I understand what you are saying. I'm just trying to get a feel for what some people have tried on here and what has worked for them.

I just got my 2016 yz 450f three days ago, and I gotta tell you. I didn't set my suspension, but even then it has great handling. I came off of a 2011 RMZ 250 which suzuki is known for its handling, but I am surprised how lightweight the 450 feels in the deep ruts. I am impressed.

I would defiantly try the bike out before you order anything. I've had my 2014 yz450f for two years now and it's the best bike I've ever ridden.

What sag and fork tube height are you running?

I've ridden the '14 and '15 YZ250F and loved them. I bought a '14 YZ450F on Tuesday. Wednesday I rode a couple of laps here at home, it handles so poorly it put me on the ground. The fork tubes were flush with the top clamp, I plan to try them at 5mm up once I get the bike back together. My sag is set at 105mm

My fork tube height is 4mm. My sag is whatever Factory Connection set it at, so I'm not sure. I have noticed the bike sits in ruts very well but is a little awkward hitting berms fast. Could be the bike, or it could be me. Let me know what you end up doing. I'm always willing to try something different with the bike to make it better.

The 16s s have increased offset to 25mm. I Have not ridden one to distinguish then differance.
