I would like some help please.
I sold my 4 stroke and bought a 2007 yz250. The bike was bought new in 2007 by the previous owner, ridden once on a tar road then parked in a garage since then.
After I bought it from him a few weeks ago I have put about 3-4 hours on the bike. I cannot seem to get the suspension plush (as compared to my 2007 CRF250).
The front feels VERY stiff. I have clicked it all the way soft on the bottom and the top. I went in two clicks on the bottom and one on the top from all soft. This feels like the best setting? I also dropped the forks about 10mm in the triple clamps. It came from teh factory sitting right at the top of the fork.
I have no idea about the oil levels or oil weight, I assume it is all still the same as it comes from the factory - seeing as the bike only had about 30mins on it when I bought it.
The back also feels stiff. The free sag was very bad, so I tightened up the spring. Yet even though the sag was too high - it still felt stiff.
It seems the back is either very "spongy" or very stiff. I'm finding it hard to find middle ground. Race sag is about standard at about 100mm.
I am only using the bike for MX and weigh about 175 in kit.
Is the bike like this because it only has a few hours on it? Can the oil go "bad" from standing in a garage all that time? Why are the forks feeling so stiff? Is it my imagination? Am I going mad? Are the stock springs very stiff?
Can someone please help and give advice on where to start. Also - if anyone has the same bike (or newer) - could they please give me their settings if they weigh roughly the same as I do. Thanks!
