I was changing the oil in my bike. The clutch covers say 660cc of oil. I put 700cc in the cup (50 to account for what wouldn't make out of the cup and down the funnel) The owners manuel says to take the screw out on the front side of the clutch cover, and if it's the right level oil will come out, if its low, it won't. Over 225cc came out. So which is right, the clutch cover or the screw?

It's likely not distributed, often it will appear high (too much oil) until you run it and then it should read normal.

Use the screw, it's fool proof.

You probably didnt get all of the old oil out when you drained it, accounting for the excess oil.

The amount on the side of the engine is probably the total amount, like after you split cases. The amount you add for a normal oil change is a little less. I never use those check bolts myself. If the oil isn't perfectly distributed or if the bike is not perfectly level too much or too little can come out.

drain out old and put the 700cc in and your done .... forget the rest. A factory wrench once told me to put an extra 100cc in as it helps cool the clutch during 125 SX clutch abuse.

I believe too much oil can be really bad because it can cause foaming. I would stick with the factory specs.
Also, you could measure what you took out to see if you only got partial removal of the old oil. Do you warm up
the (engine) oil first to get the oil to drain easier?
