I decided to get a bike again. Rode a wide variety of bikes, but it was clear I enjoyed riding a 125 the most. I did not do an all out rebuild like others have here, but I'm very happy with it. Not too many pics, but here they are:

Where it started

Tore it completely down

Powder coated frame. Chose to go with a black vice the factory bluish grey color

Two months later... No font number as I originally wanted a Cycra Stadium plate and ordered the graphics. Turns out that plate didn't work well with the 2014 RMZ fender. Picked up a 2014 RMZ plate and will trim the graphics and see if I can make it work. Worst case I just order a new one.

Trimmed the rear plates

Basics: Eric Gorr 144 rebuild, JD Jetting, Mylers radiators, Factory Connection rebuilt suspension, all new bearings, plastics, filter, rims, spokes, seat cover, ProTaper bar, and lots of cleaning...

When I was changing the front tire, I discovered the original rims were both cracked. Gave me an excuse to put the yellow rims on!

Rode it for the first time today. Wanted to find any bugs. Really only found two. The radiator guards don't fit real well into the Mylers radiators so I'll need to add a zip tie or two to each. The right radiator shroud bolts in the tank have very poor threads. Need to improve those.

Bike ran great, handles incredible, and the suspension by Factory Connction is spot on. They even nailed the sag on the shock. It was spot on, and I couldn't think of one adjustment I'd want to make. They rebuilt, revalvd and replaced all springs. Track had some good rough stuff and it soaked it up beautifully. Power is real strong. It has no real bottom end, no surprise there.

I'd buy a Suzuki just to put gold rims on it!

Great job!

Tell me more about how it ran and what you think of the Eric Gorr 144 kit? What porting option did you go with? Planning to do the same for my son's 04 RM 125. Thanks!

I suppose it wont really apply to me anyway seeing as you have the 144 kit. Gearing and jetting will be the first things I play around with.

I asked for a more everywhere build that would run on 93 octane pump gas. Only one short ride, but very happy so far. Definitely pulls strong from mid and up. No real low end to speak of. The gearing is presently a 13:51. Stock as 12:50. I just ordered a 52 rear as I think it will help me keep it in the power out of tight turns. I've been away from riding for awhile so I've some work to do on my end. The JD Jetting kit seems like it will work well. It has a PC pipe and short silencer, as well as Boyesen reeds. I hope to ride again next week and have a better feel for it.

Yeah Mine is pretty stock inside the engine for now, not going to get too crazy with it coz if I want to ride a fast bike ill jump on the 450 haha. I was thinking about getting a JD jetting kit, Ive got an FMF factory and shorty system with boyesen reeds also.

It's just a copper metallic paint. I'll eventually re-do the hubs (TCR?). They were quite stained, and I was already over budget so this was the solution for now. They actually look surprisingly good. For now...

What graphics did you order to get the number offside upwards like that? I trimmed my side plates and now dont know what graohics to order to keep the whole number on.

I just called Armored Graphics. They did one for an MXA build that I liked and had them match that. They'll make whatever you want.

Nice bike.. I had an 04. You're not kidding when you say the bikes don't have any low end power (I know 125s don't have alot down low but the RM has nothing!) I tried messing with gearing and going bigger on the back sprocket on the RM just makes you have to shift way too much to stay in that narrow powerband. Other than that, awesome bikes.
