Has anyone put a pipe on a YZ450 and afterwards it pops on deceleration. Heading into a corner after I let off the throttle it started popping and cracking.

Any suggestions would be huge.

first check to make sure you tightened everything correctly and you aren't getting an exhaust leak. Look for for some black marks right around the exhaust port, unless you've already fixed it.

No worries mate.

How much time does the brand new muffler have on it? Not all aftermarket companies use high quality packing. However I should have asked you first how old was the muffler.

I just repacked Rick "Too Tech Racing" Johnson's OEM muffler off his 2008 CRF450 Honda and it cured the backfiring so this is why I offered this suggestion. Rick ripped off four holeshots at the Old Timers International race at GH weekend before last and was very surprised how much better his bike ran particularly in the mid range.

His muffler was EMPTY so I wasn't that surprised....I am surprised though at how many racers never repack.

I need some packing for my bike Rock. Vital drive discount? I own a track so I could sell a bunch I am sure.

Make sure you dont have a leak where the headpipe connects to the cylinder head. My 08 started to pop when the headpipe had a small crack in that area. Also when I first installed I had to open up the fuel screw a little bit.
