04 RM250 Cylinder stress cracks?

Has anyone seen this? Any idea of the cause, how to fix ? The bike started to run lean last week, found these cracks on both sides of the cylinder in about the same area.

Thanks

Possibly frame fatigued to the point that the head stay is pulling up on the head and cylinder enough to crack it.

That may be a true statement. Never experienced that with a Suzuki, but I do know that the frames do flex a lot. If you ride them hard, you're gonna have a problem. My son destroyed an '08 frame. I was afraid to have it welded. mxb2 helped me try to find a used one, but I couldn't. Ended up talking to Suzuki of America in California, and they said they had 10 of them coming soon. I put in my order, and got a new one. Almost 2G. They are great bikes, but not as durable as others. I've had problems with Suzuki frames since the 85 days. They actually sent me a new frame for that 85 for free. Check it carefully for cracks. Sometimes they are not obvious. Neck and motor mount area are prime spots to look at.

So after a detailed inspection I found a crack in my frame, on the left down tube near the motor mount. I hope this is the cause !

Don't know if RM is close to the same, we had the lower case mount tabs break off the frame, front and mid. The only points holding the motor were swingarm and cylinder head. Snapped the head.

Your frame is shot, and caused the problem. The first sign is a crack in the brace between the tubes at the steering neck. Next, the down tubes crack, close to the motor mounts, and at the footpegs. Your problem is fixing the frame, not the cylinder.

Just look for a new or replacement cylinder or you will be fighting it forever.
