Thought I would share with you the start to my project, ...while I don't think it will be near the dream ride that Moto 120's 07 was, I think it will be a functional, clean, two stroke I always wanted kind of bike. I Have started out with a fairly clean 04 cr250r that I found off of craigslist that I picked up for about $1800 from the original owner. My friends Morgan from BR1 suspension and Mr Slipdog as he is known on here were quick to jump on board with suspension and motor duties.

I had the suspension kashima coated and lowers DLC coated right off the bat to give it alittle factory flavor..... I will continue to post picks as it moves forward.

Starting point.

frame acid washed

Shock

Fork

Shock in frame

Swingarm sanded to original brushed finish with 1500 grit, installed on frame and ride engineering tripleclamps.

VERY nice.... I'm sure it's gonna be amazing! Might need your contact for suspension coatings for my next build (doubt the wife will let me spring for true "kit" suspension again haha).

Look forward to seeing this progress!

I rode the bike through the winter trying to get some seat time while the riding is good [winter is the best time in cali]. Put a new top end in what i believe to be the original 04 crank..........it lasted ten minutes before the casing came off the old crank and recked abunch. Sad

Got all my low end parts the other day, sent the new crank to be balanced, the cylinder to be re-coated and ported by slip-dog at Roth racing, plus my hinson parts. Next is to send the rest of the motor to him so he can work his magic on matching everything. Smile

Also got my oversized chinese radiators and had a welder put on some cross bracing pieces i made. [totally ripped this one of Moto 120's build, hope you don't mind Wink ]

Got the wheels today!!!!! They are better than i expected!!! Troy at TCR not only builds wheels for teams like Geico Honda, but builds all kinds of custom combo's. He took my stock hubs turned them down, then had them anodized and brand new excel's anodized gun-metal, then laced up with some oversized spokes.

I will try and get some......i had a few little dents in mine, i power sanded it with 120 grit first, then 600 by hand then 1500 again by hand. It was in pretty rough shape, still not perfect, but better than it was.

Basic porting/port height changes finished. Now its off for plating, then final porting and lathe work.

Travis, those works connection perches are the cats ass! I loved the one I had on my last bike. I now have a 13 kxf 250 and went with the Sunline V-1 MDX perch/lever. I like it alot but like the feel of the Works Connection one better...

I have the Pro Taper perch and lever and I like that feel a lot, but I've always thought the WC stuff looks pretty truck (not that the PT perch and lever I have don't) but what's special about the Works Connection feel?

What type of acid did you use on the frame and how did you apply it? Looks great. Plan on doing something similar to this 05 CR250 I have been sprucing up. Have used simple green and scotch brite pads in the pads but plan on stripping the bike down to bare frame like you did. Have heard to use Naval jelly on the frame also.

Well, I got it from a friend, not sure what it is called, but it's used to clean big aluminum parts on trucks I'm told, maybe a kind of strong all wheel cleaner? Pretty knarley stuff, it's mixed one part to nine parts water.

Putting the electrical on now. I know on the 04 it runs down the left side,........does anyone have photos of how it wraps around the frame? Been awhile since I took it off. Dry

If no one has uploaded any I can probably get one up later tonight/tomorrow. I'm sure you'll get one by then but I'll check back.

That is, assuming mine is routed correctly...
