DSLR question

Looking to get a DSLR for my girlfriend who has been wanting one for quite a while, I am just going to get her an entry level one. A friend of mine said go to with a Canon Rebel. I see the Rebel t3 is about 430, and the T3I is 560, big price difference, will I see a big picture difference? Or should I just stick with the T3 or a different camera all together?
Any advice would help

What is she going to use the camera for? Is she looking into becoming a real photographer one day, or just wanting to snap decent pics of you at the track and family vacation stuff?

She is basically using it fo family vacations, and shooting me and other riders at the track. I found a smoking deal on a refurbished Cannon T3i for under 400 dollars. So i jumped on it. But would still like to hear your opinion.

The t3i is a great camera for what you need, it's got great video and photo capabilities, you did good.
