The Shop
So, I let him ride my 13 yz450 at battle for ohio. Went out for two practices and was goin pretty damn good. And then the 3rd practice he wadded up really bad and broke his leg. Was off work for 8 months. He doesn't want that happening again as my mom is pretty sick and hasn't been working for about a year and the dr's don't know what it is exactly.
Anyway, the day he broke his leg I felt so bad. When we were in the hospital I said....wow, dad you're probably not gonna ride anymore after this huh? He said, yea the only way i'll ever ride again is if I get my 96 cr250 back.
So from that minute I went on a mission to get my dad his 96 cr250......last time he had one was 1994 when he went to loretta's in 35+ and got 14th. Went in 95 on a 96 cr250 and got 14th again. So I found this bike and put quite a bit of money into it, I gave him his old ride, with some new 2015 flavor (the graphics) but I kept the same number.
Pretty much sums up the motocross sometimes is "not worth it"
Do not get distracted by your wedding costs, need a few bucks to buy some shit etc.
Your Pops may again want to do some casual rides with you in the future. That's special.
And, if he doesn't, what better way to remember all the good times you had travelling to races, the highs and lows that come with that, than keeping around something you built from love of your Dad and for him wether he swings a leg over it or just likes to look at it.
From experience, shit get's real as you ascend the age ladder.
The bucks you will get from this sale, will in the long term possibly be insignificant when you realize you sold something you put your heart into and saw your Dad's appreciation of it. Can't replace those days/times,....ever. Just Say'in
