thanks for the quick reply, this bike has a plastic tank no gold rims etc ,
i did ring suzuki gb and all they can say is they did sell a limited amount of chesterfields but have no records as it was so long ago but i can give them the details and £95 and they will give me a dating certificate though how they can do this if they have no records of the bikes???

i have never seen a frame no like this either but neither the engine or frame numbers look bodged so if they have been faked then it's a good job

The bike you have pictured looks like a '91.

That is pretty interesting man, I've got a works 91 250 with a similar frame number. A production VIN would be much longer. I wonder if Suzuki just threw some stock parts on decommissioned Chesterfield bikes then sold them off. Very cool if so. I've also got one of Donny Schmit's oversized GP tanks from his Chesterfield RM.

As above, Maybe an ex team bike with all the fruit removed, I notice there appears to be welding of the crankcase under/around the inlet, Perhaps a factory mod?
I think you may have something a bit special there Cool

This bike is the real factory of puzar 1990.
A belgium had this engine factory on his bike.
Never seen "chesterfield" on frame and engine case!!!

Thanks for the input guy's I'm not sure what the truth is on this as i said I'm new to mx bikes and up till i got this a couple of wks ago I'd never even heard of chesterfield rm's, riding sports bikes i had heard of the aprillia rs250 chesterfield.
the way i see it there has been 23 years for it to lose all it's glitter if it is a 91 bike, the bike looks to have been neglected for some time and even has mould growing on it lol, maybe someone didn't know what they had and used it as a part's bike or maybe someone was good with a number punch set who can tell? I figure if it is real then somewhere out there must be at least another 45 bikes with similar frame and engine numbers.
as it is I'm going to start looking for bits based on it being a 91 bike as and when funds allow so this could be a very long term project lol.

thanks pess, i appreciate your help in this, on one hand i didn't buy the bike as a chesterfield just a project so in the long run the outcome isn't going to affect my plans but curiosity is now getting to me so finding out one way or the other would be great.
if it is a practice bike or a supercross bike then someone has had all the good stuff like wheels suspension and ally tank.
i can't wait for the answer one way or the other

The answer of the official mechanics chesterfield bike :
"We never print Chesterfield in the motor e frame this parts not originals"
It is what i think !!

Sat unloved in someone's garden stevee though judging by the rust and green slime all over it they might well have fished it out from a local river lol. This could be an expensive project.

Cylinder head looks stock. A factory Suzuki rm head has one number cast into it which begins with 'xr'.
This head is from a works rm125 engine:

The top clamp is a stock item as well. A genuine 1990-1991 factory bike would have a billet top clamp like the one below.

I think the shock absorber is a WP shock but I'm not sure.

I admit its not pretty haha but it was very cheap £50 so I'm not too worried.
it was just a project as i can't afford to buy a complete bike after the year I've had (months of cancer treatment including a major operation on my arm to remove a tumor) so I'll get it in the shed and clean it up buying parts as and when money allows.
maybe by next year it might start to look like a proper bike again lol

I know I"m resurrecting an old thread here, can anyone verify Puzar"s 91 Rm frame color? I have seen photos of his 91 bike with the # 1 plate and it appears to have a black frame...I"m thinking of making one of my 92"s into a Chesterfield replica, but I"m not keen on a "red/orange" frame color.... Black frame, I"m ok with.....Euros"s? Thanks...

hi all i'm new here and new to mx bikes,

i've just bought myself an rm250 that has sat totally neglegted to have as a long term project.

tried to find out the year to start looking for parts and the numbers dont match any shown by suzuki. the engine no is cf rm250 046 and the frame says rm250 046 chesterfield. confused i looked up chesterfield suzuki and i think they were raced between 89-91.

so is it a works bike? am i right on the year? is it worth money lol? any help or info would be appreciated.

I’ve never seen that before either. See if you can find any initials in the bike under the seat or even on the inside of the chain guard and look behind the vin and see what it says
