What are some of your favorite bikes from years past and why? Post a picture of one (find a picture of the bike in its stock form if you can).

I have a few favorites, but the ones that stand out the most are the 1990 Kawasakis. I guess I like them because I was just a little guy back then and I remember having little toy Kawasakis with the same paint splatter graphics and stuff (although I think the toys were KDX250s from the early 80's with 1990 KX graphics painted on). Besides that, I remember seeing them in magazines and videos and they just looked so rad to me.

I'll probably post some more later.

I remember that giving them some room when they accelerated out of a turn was a good idea.

They (Huskys) would go straight better than any other bike...That's why they won so many desert races.

I'll have some pics in a few weeks to post up of a couple C&J framed JWRP Mini Elsinores that Scott at the Vintage Factory is working on for me. I'd been collecting these things and parts for them for years. Never could seem to get around to actually putting them together though. Just finished painting the tanks and numberplates for them today. Going to be really sweet, one for a show bike and one a full blown vintage racer for my youngest son.

I should have gone with the 430CR in 82'
That 250CR was just too slow, but it handled better than any of my friends Honda's or Yamaha's.
Yamaha brake shoes sorted out the stopping issues, not that it ever went fast enough to need good brakes.

I rode a lot of desert and Moto back then, and yes, the Huskies were great desert bikes.

Yeah, I had the 430...however, the rear wheel, did pass me on occasion at full speed. It would touch back down, and go straight.

I also weighed about 110 pounds at the time...I'm twice that now.

Explain the Noguchi a little. Looks like a cross between the YZ "b" and "c" models. I had some Noguchi stuff for a 74/75 YZ125 a while back. Just a couple years ago I snagged a 175cc Noguchi top end for the 125 at a swapmeet for a buddy.

This was my first mx bike

I loved it back then but I don't think I'd like it now after so much time on newer bikes.

The last Montessa Capra and the last Ossa Phantom ever made are my faves. Third choice would be the 1980 (?) Maico Alpha 440.

My two favorites:

1977 RM250B (my first Jap bike)

1985 CR500 (after suffering with the 84 CR500, the 85 was awesome)

Didn't forget, just haven't posted any pics over here since the board changed. Tried once, didn't work though. Anyhow, there it is, almost done. That's the race bike for my youngest son, looks fun doesn't it? The FMF head I sent was a little too big at the front and was going to require a small amount of trimming to fit around the frame . Considering the last CR125 FMF head on Ebay went for $1500.00, I decided against that and supplied an old school T&M head which had already been trimmed to fit a Mini Elsinore. I think it looks pretty sweet. The other one will have a few things different. Can't imagine one of those showing up at my house when I was a kid way back then! Let alone two of them.

Hi Newmann, The Noguchi was just an idea I had. Yes the bike is a cross between a YZ125A and C models. I was trying to get it to look like the Yamaha "works" OW11 of 1973. I built the bike up out of parts that I had acquired over the years and it is still work in progress. I would like to get a Noguchi 125cc barrel for it and a few other parts. I built the bike up "on-line" in a forum (OZVMX). If you know of a noguchi125 barrel I would be willing to buy it.
Anyway here is a link to the site that I built the bike on.
