1991 rm125, this basket will not come off....it moves about 1/8" and thats it. I see no circlips or anything holding it on. Could the bearing have failed and marred onto the shaft somehow? I put a puller on it with a little tension to no avail, I didnt want to put too much force on the basket for obvious reasons.
Also the PO left off the clip that holds the "rack" to the outer hob. I cant find a part# for it, can I subsitute a standard size clip from an auto store?
thanks

Yes theres a thrust bearing with the rack.

Not %100 sure its correct basket. Gears align and rotate just fine. But PO was no rocket scientist! Im going to try a little prying force between case and gear...if i can get in there. And i mean a little...

Ok this has to be it......manual does not say to remove the primary gear. It shows clutch basket removed with it still in place.
If thats it this is my official thumpertalk moment ;/

Doh....manuals dont tell all!

So back to the E ring, there is only a flat spot for one on the rack, no 360º groove. Fiche shows no clip, but the rack floats in and out on the outer hub. Also there are no wear marks on the outer hub indicating there was one.
Just seems odd that rack just sits there with nothing holding it from going in (towards basket)

You need to remove the bolt on the end of the crankshaft and remove that top drive gear and then slip the basket off. BTW this is also what is stated in the 1991 Suzuki Service Manual so not sure what manual you are looking at.

Regarding the rack, pretty sure there is no clip on this model. It is held in place by the pinion gear once you assemble everything. The only thing the clip does on the older models is keep the rack from falling out when you take the pressure plate off.

Thanks Im using a Clymers and it definitely left it out (to remove gear) 1 bruuuup with the impact solved it.

Do you find the rack fits loose in the pressure plate hole?
Thanks for clearing that up

Yes I have a bunch of Clymer's manuals as well. They are great for use as general guides covering a wide range of models and years.

But whenever I plan to keep a bike, I get the actual manufacturer service manual.
Another great place to purchase downloadable manuals is http://www.tradebit.com/

Ok that sounds like the easy part but I can not seem to get the clutch hub off where the pressure plate goes I broke a bolt and was trying to replace it and the inner hub won't come off I got the bolt off on the drive shaft and it won't pull off I've tryed almost everything went though the manual don't say nothing looked on you tube all over the Internet and nothing in need of help or I'm screwed for the summer
