Below is a photo of my Alpinestar Hi Point MX boots from back in the day. These were the second generation boots and probably one of the more desirable versions as they were used by just about all the top riders in the mid to late 70s. A few years ago I purchased a pair of Alpinestar Tech 8’s and they lasted 4 seasons and then began falling apart. Not sure what happened at Alpinestar, but there is certainly something to be said about build quality as the below boots were made around 1977 and were heavily used, yet they are still in excellent condition. In fact, these boots have held up so well that when I can ride again, I plan to wear them at a couple races with the new Moto-X-Fox 4oth anniversary gear (see below photo). Not sure what ever happened to the quality of motocross boots, but these days they don’t make them like they used to…though they are more comfortable and safe to be sure...tradeoffs I guess...
Sweet gear by the way.

I got lucky and found an all most brand new pair for $150. which is about all I would be willing to pay for a pair new or used pair.
On the other hand, the SIDI boots I've been wearing for the last fifteen years have been superb on all accounts. Protection, comfort, and durability are all top of the line. I ride twice a week, year round (once a week in winter) and I get three good years out of them. So, to the OP's question. There are still quality boots available.

We have over 100 hours of motocross riding on the Sidi SRS and they are holding up great. I changed the soles in approximately 30 min just a couple weeks ago. Trying to have a set of boots resoled during the season would be impossible for us. And they have been powerwashed 1-2 times per week all year.
It's going to be hard to try something else.
