Went ahead and bought it anyway.

This 89 KX 125 deserves to be shredded and made into walmart patio furniture, but I decided to grab it and hope another donor bike comes along in the next year or two. If not, I'll part out what's salvagable.

When you get a chance please pull the sprocket off and ship it to me. I am always looking for custom parts. Smile

If you had the skills and wherewithal to weld the sprocket on, why would you not just affix the cog in a fashion that which resembles its original design?
Whatever, you know?
Enjoy your project 125KX. Oh and don't take any cues from the mechanic who wrenched on that thing previously.
Good luck.

Take it to Proline and show Jim East. I am sure he will have a good idea.

I'd pay someone to do it if a) money grew on trees and b) I didn't want to do it myself.

There's an '88 KX125 on ATL craigslist.
I snapped that one up for pocket change. Frame has cracks and the bottom end is rusted solid. No top end, carb or expansion chamber. Silencer is OK and I think fits my 89. Forks & brakes are OK. Cases appear to be uncracked. May try to salvage/resell a few things from it later this year.

Need to find a '89 donor bike with in-tact cylinder & power valves. Or I need to find someone to custom machine a new power valve for me.
