I have a liking to the old moto gear from the 70's. Here is a pic of some of my small collection that graces my garage Wall of Fame.

Would you like a pretty nice set of old leather Yamaha pants? I bought a set several years back and haven't done anything with them.

Newmann here is another display in the garage. I was going for an early Bob Hannah look when he ran the #39 on the OW125. My wish list for vintage gear is a pair of Carrera 98's and and the first face guard from Hallman. The one Marty Smith used and many others back in the day. Are your Yamaha pants like the one in the picture? I display everything I have. No reason to hide it away. If I cant see it then the value to me is nothing! I like the gear more than the old bikes. I just sold my 74 125 Elsinore to Robert Sabatini in Houston. Marty Tripes did the race restore and took it to Robert during the Diamond Dons race. Glad it has a home where he will ride it. Just collected dust here. Can you post up a pic of the Yamaha pants? Thanks for the offer Newmann. You have an incredible collection of moto history. Very cool!

I have quite a few sets of gear that I want to display. This may seem like a funny question, but where do you get the Manaquins?

Bit spooky having all those bodies around your garage!
But I love to see that stuff anyway!

The mannequins are found on ebay. I look for the 5'8" ones as the gear from back in the day was for the most part riders were thinner and shorter in the 70's. Current ones dont fit old gear. Waist size on most vintage race pants is 30". Ya they get a rise out of my wife with these guys hanging out in the gagrage! Kinda fun to have the old stuff dispalyed.

Here's some of my old gear, I was thinking of getting some mannequins as well.

These boots and pants are from 83 the year I quit racing.

These jerseys I just recreated and made my self.

Awesome collection!! Gotta show it off. In a box or just laying around is no fun. Get some displays for that Moto history.

Helmets do grow on trees! Seriously, great. I love MX helemts and have about 20 myself. Bell RT, Moto 3, 4 and 5, JT ALS 1 & 2, Arai MX80, Shoei and just got a Techno. I find the goggles don't last long, the frames break up.

Rasta that is awesome! Great collection. As I said before I just like the old gear and helmets more than the old bikes. Good fun collecting and showing it off. Open face lids were cool!

To me the JT ALS1 is THE best looking MX helmet ever. I had one back in the day and thought I was the mutts nuts, even though I was painfully slow! I have one now and managed to find a NOS visor for it (probably doubling the value). I used to love the infrequent MXA articles on 'helmet paint jobs of the stars'.
For me MX fashion peaked in 1986 with David Baileys Anaheim SX dayglo orange gear, FANTASTIC!

I can't work out how to get photos on here and to be honest I've lost interest in trying (photobucketshopthing) but I would never sell my NOS JT ALS2 that I had painted as a David Bailey 1986 replica.
I'd love to put up a photo but it's too much hassle for an old fart like me.
vitalmx.com needs to make it easier to upload photos.

You've evn got a HOT STUFF surfboard tucked in there! I went to the HOT STUFF shop in the Gold Coast, Queensland. I bought a T shirt for my friend who is a big Wayne Rabbit Bartholomew fan.

Those guys in the pictures- you would think they got abit bored just standing there all the while! Do you have to pay them anything to stand around there?

Joking aside- very cool collection, for sure the 70's gear seemed to have a certain appeal about it. I am sure those old style leathers probably offered more protection in someways than the nylon stuff that came later, always thought that, particulary in crashes were you slid on hard stony ground, with likely skin grazing or worse.
I also remember Hallman made a sort of fabric set of riding pants a few years maybe before the nylon stuff started taking over. They looked good I remember but tore on occasions- was abit unusual.
