I was used to see Ricky racing on Honda's. The fox head on the Helmet made me think it was Barnett.

You're right seeing Ricky on a Honda X....

Remember the muddy '87 Daytona SX when Bowens chain came off? Ricky won on a Honda.

Rick also ran 'em that yr in 125 Nationals. '87s had nasty fast motors; great bike.

Ran RMs in the 90's for the contingency....paid cash; darn good cash. He made at least 1-2 grand plus(forgot payouts) a weekend during all the Golden State/GFI winter stuff.

I remember the KX he rode then. Remember a Golden State then..........

So ridiculously fast that overcast day. One of those races where the crowd bunched at a sandy corner and he never shut off one second in that turn. Soooo WFO.

Not to muddy the waters but if I remember right Jeff Jennings raced on Suzukis and used the number 56 also. But not sure if he ever used Fox Gear.

Andy, here is an oldschool pic of Ricky you might not have seen, my little mom what quite the photog. Ricky used to pick me up from school every Wednesday and we would go practice at Santa Clara PAL. Known him since he was 8 yrs old riding a RM100 and could barely touch the pegs.

Nice pic by your mom ocscottie. Looks like............ Sand Hill...? Nice he picked ya up to ride....

Never went to the PAL.....dunno why....wasn't it close to ol' Great America themepark or thereabouts? Something motorcycle riding wise was close to there. Someone got hurt and sued if I remember correctly to shut it down.

Have you talked to him recently? Just wondering if he's doing ok after all his health issues.

Cool pic.

Yup, PAL was right across/down the street from GA, well that was the new PAL, the original one was at the dump. They had a benefit race for me after i got hurt and that crook Larry Kliest (promoter) ran off w/ a bunch of $$ that was promised to me.

I havent talked to Ricky in quite a few years, but i kept up on him during his heart attack through Dean Matson. I got Rickys phone # if anyone wants to call and say hi.

I've known Allen since the 3rd grade. We were neighbors for around 12 years.

That pic of Ryan on the Yamaha brings back some memories. He was racing 125 and 250 pro class at age 14, and he was so small that he could barely keep the bike up by himself at the start line. One of the fastest ever from Norcal. I hope he has made a full recovery from his heart problems.

Rodney Smith was another that was faster that shit with Al Posey helping him; 125 Nats.

Seems he won a moto or almost did, but regularly top 5-10s like Ricky.
