Not a part but a bike. 1973 TS185. It was my brothers who bought it brand new in 73 and I sold it for short money to keep a 85 YZ125 going that was a turd. I'd give anything to have that bike back.

Of course it was decent money at the time!Smile They are finally making their way onto a bike after all these years too!

I remember all the trick Elsinore heads I bought for $25.00 and sold for $50.00. Back in 1992 that profit paid my entry fee for the day. Spent many nights burning the midnight oil to restore old Elsinore's nice enough to sell at Steamboat for $1200.00 to help fund my trip in 92 and 93. I was buying buildable core bikes for $25-75.00 when people weren't giving them to me. Too dumb to know better and too broke to do anything about it at the time.Laughing So much trick stuff I let get away to fund the next project.

I don't know if that was a bad deal? That mugen is sweet!! What's everyone fascination with Harley MXers, they're are nice bikes but I don't remember anyone wanting them in the seventies?

They were rough and one was missing some pieces. Joe Abbate spent a small fortune restoring them both. Serial numbers 00038 and 00045, both found locally here in Southeast Texas back around 1998.

Just consider your misfortune the lifeline to a young entrepreneur on the East Coast back then just starting out in the lucrative vintage restoration business Smile

Thats one of the reasons I believe makes them popular now. Plus being a one year, not a lot out there and probably most of all an American Iconic brand. I know mine was high on my list of ones to restore.

The kick starter to my 80 RM250, and everything else bolted to it. Bought it from a buddy of mine in 83, had hardly been ridden, was in PRISTEEN condition. Owned it for a year, hardly rode it, and offed it to go trucking on the highway in 84. Pure fucking genius.

dg head for my 79-80 rm 125. bought it brand new from DG in 1982-83, they were practically giving the air cooled stuff away, think I paid like 25$ for it...I could have put the stock head on it & sold it just the same, im sure the stock head ended up in the garbage, DG had an ad in the back off MXA selling them, I wasnt into vintage bikes back then.....that was my current bike!

Those HD's sure look a lot like Can-Am's, guess it's the color. Did they use a Rotax ?
My guess is they at least handled better.

Where's that Mugen now Joe ? Sure looks like the Hubbard's motor !

I think those engine were Aerimacchi (sp?) or some such Italian deal, weren't they? I seem to recall they were a distant cousin or precursor to Cagivas.

Well #1 would be the Fox Forx what were on my '79 CR250R along with the 17.5" Fox Airs and the Thor swing arm that were on it when I sold it way back like a dope. Who knew I would miss it so much and want it back again years later?Around 4 yrs ago I was lucky enough to find my bike.... that very same bike and I now its mine again after all these years but sadly those parts were no longer in it when it came back to me to live at its forever home . That's ok , shes home again and that's what matters Smile

Harley owned Aermacchi. They sold it to Cagiva in late 1978/early 79.
