The Shop
I've been to Keyser a few times, but don't recall Skip's shop.
RB
The Honda Turbo 10 grand.
The crated Harley's, 12, 12.5k each.
Gas tanks, started at 400, end of the pile they were going for 35 bucks.
Same with helmets.
Check back over there tomorrow, I have some more prices
written down somewhere, just gotta find them. I'll put them up.
You know guys, there was a lot of stuff, for sure.
But does anyone notice, where are the Vintage bikes?
The knucklehead Harleys, the twin pipe CZ, the Bultaco Metralla,
heck, not one Indian in the bunch.
More than one have mentioned they thought there was way, way more than what went up.
One Saturday morning in December 2011, I saw on EBAY a NOS 1981 CR450 motor. I sent an email and gave my offer at 7am and they agreed and the auction was ended. I was the proud owner of this cool engine. I built a 81 ME460 out of it that ended up on the cover of VMX Magazine. The place that listed the engine was Skips Honda. I asked if they had any other old Honda stuff and they did. I drove up there and did an American Pickers episode. The lady I was dealing with was super nice and she said her dad had recently passed away (Skip). They had so much stuff but everything was covered in water due to roof damage. They had crates and crates of old motorcycles but most were rusted due to the open roof....yea the roof was open and I mean alot of crates. I saw those 1991 Honda Cubs which came two to a crate just competely rusted... I also saw about 100 Bell Moto III and Bell moto 4 all in the boxes put completely rusted and rotted....man what a sin. I was able to pull out about $500 worth of stuff that was usable, mostly 73/74 CR250 cables but that was it......they had about 200-300 used vintage dirt bikes but they all had a yellow ribbon tied on them which meant it was sold. I guess a guy made a deal with the dad to buy 200 of the better bikes. Anyway I didnt go to the auction but man there was alot of premium new stuff that was ruined by the rain......what a sin.
I tell you guys, Suzuki was doing some crazy stuff for a few years.
The Black RE5 was another one.
No piston, a rotary.
That Water Buffalo, tame compared to the Kawasaki H1500 an H2750.
The water cooling was neat, but they were more a tourer than a crotch rocket.
That's just how they looked brand new.
