The track was Sunshine Speedway Mx in St Pete,Fla, est 1975 or 76,,,,,,,,, the bike was my 75 Cr125 Elsinore,,,,,, i never had a Cr250

Sunshine Speedway was a great track.

I never had a CR125 but I rode one in the sand. The light weight made it a fun sand bike.

Thanks for posting, i knew alot of the guys, on this list, the picture i posted of bradenton, fl pits has Mark Murphy, Joe Cartier, and us parked in the pits, and i was off on the yr wasnt 76 maybe 77 or 78 .

i went to Pinellas park Jr High and Monte Mccoy lived half a block from there

oldschool, hit the percentage button at the bottom right of your screen to enlarge the photo. That is Todd next to Cartier. Remember John Olten? He is one of the first I can remember coming to the races in a Class A pusher motorhome. A Blue Bird if I am remembering correctly.

Yea i remember John Olten out of Naples , Fl. his dad along with Kippy Pierce,s dad had big $, and always had the best bikes money could buy, along with the Motorhome

Todd Hempsteads mom bev, owned Barneys Yamaha, along with her sis mrs Woods, but Todds dad Ray, he won the Daytona 200 RR in the later 60s

This one actual had written Lockhart, August 1987, on the back of it, which I believe was Scalzo's Ft. Lauderdale track.



I believe this is Moroso Motorsports park in West Palm, don't believe anyone has brought that track up.

Great thread. I used to race all the Florida tracks in the 80's. What a trip i am in bottom pic spectating. Pete Scalzo was a wild man and even opened a track here in sw FL that lasted 5 months not long ago. Here is an old Lockhart video. I am "the lone kawi" in the race after Timmies and Chris Showalter was my best friend growing up. This was our local track. I knew the Palm Bch. track like the back of my hand. Those were some good days. Dean Baker works for JGRMX and lives about 30 min. from me up here in NC.

Oldschool, that first pic sure does look like Orlando Sports Stadium . The straight in front of the bleachers,then the turn back onto the start straight / finish line.
