My dad used to ride and run around with Mike Giddens, Tony Adair, Mick Poole and a lot of the local Orlando riders (Sports Stadium and Bithlo) back through the 70's. Pop raced, but more for fun not that serious, but he did take millions of pictures and he worked the start gate at Sports Stadium. His name is George Kidder and he living out in Colorado now, well he has handed down what pictures he has left, which is quite a few. They are from all the fast guys from Florida and all the national and international fast guys from the Trans-Am and Winter Am Series, and AMA Nationals. I will be posting pics as soon as I get them, which will be about 2 weeks. Dad had a AMA mechanics license so he had access to all the pits and pretty much everywhere on the track, so the pictures are pretty cool. When i talked to him on the phone about this site, he told me that he used to take pictures of all the guys and give them the pictures, all out of his pocket, he did it for the love of the sport and just in opinion being a great guy ( i guess im biased).

Wow, great site. Found this while I googled E.C. Birt. I did most of the testing on the E.C. and Walker 125 Elsinore parts. The company was based in Boynton Beach at Frankie Walker's (MotoCross Inc) Industrial complex. Brought back a lot of memories!!! The person who was one of the best tuners in that era was Toby from R&D. During this same time (1974) I started building BMX frames under the Name SG and in 1984 changed the name to BREW. Still riding dirtbikes and have a MX track at the shop, started landspeed racing a few years back and write for The Horse and American Iron. Thanks again for such a great site!!!!!!!!

My kid brother used to race with Boots back in the early 70's.
Here's a photo of them waiting for the start of the mini's at Miami-Hollywood back in 73'.
(Boots #36 on an SL-70, my brother #3X on a mini-enduro) Notice lucky kid on left of Boots riding one of the first XR-75's in the neighborhood.

Furman is on the left as the 500cc winner at St. Pete and Mark Barnett is on the right as the 125cc winner. Not sure of the 250cc winner Smile

That is JoJo Keller in the winners circle photo between Furman and Barnett. Also see #103 in the photo's on the Yamaha. I believe that is Phil Nunnery.

Thanks "project racer"!!!
I was almost 5 at this time. So though I remember Furman racing and being at the tracks, I was way too young to know a lot of what was going on. I remember always hearing of Hannah, Smith, Lacky, Mossier, Tony D, Weiner and a few others. JoJo don't ring any bells. I'll try and look him up. Of corse I know about Mark Barnett, lol. Others mentioned the girl in the pic as a trophy girl. Looks like she had race pants on to me? Any ideas? Thanks again...

Sorry about the comment on the trophy girl, lol. I looked at only half the pic. I see no she had shorts made from rider pants, my bad. Thanks again...Here's a pic of my boy who's 10. Furman's great nephew. He will race the 65cc class this year for the first time. He and Futman were real close, but Furman passed before I ever got Josh a bike so he could work with him. But he seems to want it

Just realized this is the 125C class, that's me on the Honda #231 in the middle of the photo and pack. I think that must have been my third or forth MX race

Trying to get in touch with member JineTC. Also, looking for any photos of the Harley-Davidson MX team for the 2nd edition of my book, Finding #49 and America"s Forgotten Motocross Team. Your photo and your name could be in my book. Thanks.
