Last night I picked up this '88 CR250, it has a bunch of VRP stuff as can be seen in the photos along with some other trick parts, it has Nine Nine One on the swing arm and I remember reading about a Nine One One MX Shop that did bikes with On the line Racing (who imported VRP back in the day). I would love to know the history of this particular bike so that I could restore it back to the way that it was. Does anybody on here have any info. on this bike.

And for the record NO I DO NOT WANT TO PART IT OUT.

Ooh that's nice, can't help you with the history but that will be an awesome bike when built, make this a build thread?

Good luck with your build Rory, I have to ask maybe it's just me but seeing the brake hose out the front drives me insane, I don't know why this Bothers me?

Because it's the wrong way to run the brake line I seen it often. To bad the fools doing it don't realize that they are creating a extra bend in the brake like weakening the brake performance.

Thanks, yeah the brake line is one of a long list of things that need fixing, the funny thing is that the bracket is all on there backwards too, that I have never seen before.

I'm thinking by the condition of the bike and from the state of bikes that I have seen with the brake line like that in the past that maybe weakening brake performance is not something that these people are too concerned about and to be honest I reckon if I wasn't to concerned with having carb boots on right to stop the motor sucking sand through it then the correct routing of brake lines probably wouldn't be high on my priority list if ye know what I'm sayin'.

So Roar, it has some 911 MX Shop identity. Oscar owned the 911 shop, just in front of the RedBud track. He runs a small airport now not to far from there...Ypsilanti maybe? Let's give him a call...

Here's my 88CR250 VRP tank and Sub frame, 89 cr shock and exhaust, this bike how ever is very low hours, forks have Race Tech valves also, but are real harsh, currently working on that issue.

Cool bike!

I could be way off here but it may be worth a post - i noticed recently, one of Terry Good's On The Line CR250s (early days maybe 1990) had a gold painted cylinder just like yours. I don't know whether this was a 'thing', but just something i picked up on... And obviously with all the VRP parts that would have come through Terry, i'd definitely email those pics to him, or through Facebook.

This one? I was reading about it in MXA and saw the gold cyl. they said it was some special paint that Ferrari F1 was using back then, that supposedly draws heat out of the cylinder, I dunno about all that but it looks kinda cool.
I actually found the guy who built it through some posts and friends of friends on facebook, the VRP parts did come from on the line as I figured they would of had, but it was built by Nine One One mx shop, the guy remembers building the bike and said that he had photos somewhere of it and was going to try and dig them out for me, which is cool as hell.
