My 78 KX250 A4 upper tubes are pitted, all pitting are in the last several inches of travel. My first thought is to find another model tube that would be a match. Anyone have a chart or knowledge of upper tube model specs I can hone in on? I suppose I can smooth down the bur, treat the corrosion, perhaps fill and buff smooth with working results, but the ongoing maintenance would be great to avoid.
It would also be interesting to hear your best results for treatment as I maybe stuck in a compromise.
Thanks!

What diameter and length? Post up a request at Marks Motorcycle Swapmeet, usually a good place to start. Also try posting something on the Texas Vintage Racing Club website forum. There are some KX enthusiasts there.

I know that Thor in VA sends them out locally to him for replating and does not mark them up when doing a complete rebuild. I went the 43mm instead so problem solved.

I'll get them pulled apart and measured tonight. I appreciate the options, links and education guys.

Any 38 model 79-81 yamaha or suzuki YZ or RM 125/250 fork tubes
would work fine The yamaha inner fork tubes generally are few centimeter's
tend to be longer, but everthing will bolt up

Thanks Rob, this is my kind of scavenger hunt. I will enjoy bringing her back to life and maybe when I'm done riding her I'll have the tenacity and resources to finish her to stand proud along side of some of your work...but not today!

I have read a few good reviews of Gary's Grinding for re-chroming.
