Yeah, that's the one, Racer 92. Bauer, did that one hurt? Kind of looks like it might have.

Yeah, that's the one, Racer 92. Bauer, did that one hurt? Kind of looks like it might have. It hurt. It was 5th gear, wide-open down the long straightaway ski jump and I hit a kicker and landed just how you see, completely sideways, perpendicular to the track. It was a major hi-side for sure! That was during practice. I later won my heat race and Davey Williams won his. Just a couple of Riverside boys that duked it out every Friday night at Corona Raceway!
I thought for sure that was my night, I was on my game, but it was not to be. They watered the hell out of the track right before our Main, which was at halftime during the Superbowl. Magoo went into the first turn way too hot and took out half the field, including me. Some dude named John Smith won the race and slipped into obscurity after that. Oh well! |

Check out this 125 Pro clash at Irwindale Raceway. David Taylor goes into a spin and barely saves it while Tim Lunde wasn't as lucky and hit the ground. CMC held Friday night races there till 1977. |

How come we dont see action shots like this today? I think the photographers dont take as good as pictures as in the 1970s and 1980s, what do you think?

OCIR Crashin'- #17 reaches out to keep his bike from going over the berm, while #37 faced down finds out why the full coverage helmet is the only way to go. croom mx- Glad that you liked the Irwindale crash shot that I took. Some of us old school moto photographers are still around. |

Kenny Clifton, wow, name from the past.. Kenny was my rival at Saddleback in 1981, good guy, got any of #34, 1981 YZ125. Also #34, 1980, yz80. Kicking myself for not keeping all the viewfinders I had, Corona, OCIR, Saddleback, those were good days. Best days ever spent with my dad.

There's never a shortage of mini dads to the rescue! This took place under the lights at Indian Dunes. Hey that sure looks like Ronnie Densford's dad to the right. |

#39 is Larry Brooks in the 1985 Golden State Series.
Hondaline gear, AXO boots and an Open Face Helmet with an Oakley face mask. Now that's true 80's old school. Cool Photo Tom. You were everywhere at that time. Are you still going to races and taking photo's? I'd love to go through your photo collection. Thanks so much for sharing. |

Looped Out- Thanks and glad that you liked that shot. #1 Willie Surratt is right above Larry and just recently at Glen Helen I told Willie about this shot. His dad was there and suggested that it was probably Willie that caused the crash...haha. Only Willie knows! I decided to step away from the studio life in June and returned to local motocross racing. CALVMX vintage racing at Perris Raceway and Glen Helen is where I can be found. It is where '70s air-cooled, drum brake bikes are being raced and it is special to see all of those riders from back in the day come out. |

Willie and Larry had many run in's back in the day, so wouldn't put it past Willie would take someone out. They would go at it even back in the day when the Surratt's first came to California from Michigan and lived near the Dunes.
Glad to hear your still shooting MX. You took so many photo's of me when I was a kid. You were always a very nice guy. I would always go to your booth and check out photo's of me and buddies back then (I think they were your photo's and your booth). Didn't you have a van back then? |

Looped Out- Thanks again and you've got a friend here. Yes I was a van man and here is my '74 Dodge B-100 that had well over a 100,000 moto miles. |
