Mark Hammond of MH Racing has the shock and now he has stopped laughing is trying to get it done
Got the bottom end and swing arm in today and have mocked up bodywork etc
Just off for some inspiration with Stella now
The yokes were vapour blasted and came up great
I put the electrics on last night with some new connectors and also got the back wheel and brake assembled
I pulled apart the original front wheel to see if anything was salvageable and ended up with a front axle and a brake arm so have put the remains in the corner
The 83 may be abundant across the pond but they are few and far between over here as are parts , its hard doing a bike like this with a tight budget in your spare time and hopefully making it presentable at the end
I also have the clock ticking for farleigh next week so I am just trying to get it there or there abouts
I am looking for a reasonable usable set of side panels and rear mudguard if anyone has any , I am busy polishing the tank today and tomorrow
I will put some more shots up later tomoz
barrel thats just been rebored to 50 over
crank thats just been rebuilt
good head
carb rubber
set of cases
2 gear boxes that would make one good one
been doing the pre 83 for a few years and i will have one for sale at end of year if you know anyone who wants one
has now got a full dg pipe on it
On the mudguard the biggest difference between the "one off" 83 and other years is really just the bolt holes. I ran one I have no idea the origin on until I ran across a correct one on my 250. Worked fine, just had extra holes.
I sent you a pm please can you call me re spares
I have the exhaust in position now so have tacked it up ready for welding tomorrow once it is welded I can blow it back to shape
I called the experts and then assembled the fork and compressed it fully still to no avail
It now seems stuck either way it will not come out or screw in anyone got any ideas ?
what I want to do is hold the cartridge inside to stop it spinning , I have tried air gun and gently by hand , the fork is now fully compressed with the spring etc in
help please
Pit Row
I was out working on it till the early hours last night and have just sat down now , I intend to get some new boots on it down there and have some little jobs to sort but it should put a lap or two in
I have a winderosa head gasket that will be with me in the morning and will swap that out down there thanks for the heads up TNS
Just off to collect supplies and Stella now so should be a highlight of my first season racing for 25 years
Thank you for everyones interest and support
