Found a really clean old Kawi in the local classifieds today if any of you guys are interested?

He has it listed as an 85 however the description shows and 87 even though it isn't .

Hope this helps someone.

That thing is pretty clean! I am redoing an 87 right now to race a few times a year. Seems to be priced well if someone was looking for a solid bike to clean up for vintage fun.

I agree. Those single sided radiator Kawasakis are cool as hell. According to the add it still has the original tires. Good luck with your build.

Having owned and raced numerous KX's throughout the 80's, I think that particular bike might even be a 1984.

The 1984 and 1985 KX125's were very similar in appearance.

In 1984 they had a black frame (just like the one pictured) which leads me to believe it is a 1984.

The 1985's had a silver frame.

1984 KX's had the aluminum front fender brace, and in 1985 they abandoned the front fender brace although the same fender was used both years.

The same front numberplate was used for both years, but it had air vents on the bottom in 1984 and was solid plastic in 1985.

The bike pictured for sale appears to have a non-stock later model front fender, as the 84/85 fenders were rounder and flatter.
It also has what appears to be a new seat cover.

I'm not sure of the technical aspects that were different from '84 to '85, but I recall the '85 had a little more grunt / bottom end then the '84... Overall, I'd say the differences between both years was pretty negligible.

Not that I'm not telling anyone that they haven't surmised already-- but I think the "ridden 4 times" claim might be a bit of a stretch.

However-- by all appearances it really does look to be in pretty good shape and if the price is right it would be a no brainer to grab!

I loved my '84 and '85 KX's... They were great bikes and still fond favorites.
